Students can gather for class in a living room, conference room, or almost any location. Independent study lessons are geared toward individuals, homeschool groups, families, university students interested in learning Arabic outside of their institution, professionals looking to enhance their careers or job market appeal, and others seeking the rigor of an academic course and the flexibility of eLearning.
Students as young as age five are welcome and mixed age groups are common. The curriculum is flexible enough that groups can decide on a case-by-case basis if they wish to take exams or not. At the end of this course, each student receives a PDF report card showing his or her scores on homework assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams.
Many of the course materials for the introductory levels are available without charge online. However for novice levels and beyond students will be responsible for purchasing their own copies of the Arabian Sinbad DVDs or textbook (either Alif Baa: Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds or Al-Kitaab fii Ta callum al-‘Arabiyya: A Textbook for Beginning Arabic 3rd editions, both books are published by Georgetown University Press and available on Amazon), and subscription to the Al-Kitaab Arabic Language Program Companion Website.
Classes meet for 2 hours per week with their instructor. Sibling and spousal discounts are available. Students under the age of 9 may be accompanied by a parent at no additional charge. New classes start at the beginning of every month. These courses do not require access to a video conferencing enabled classroom. Students may use a laptop, tablet or even smartphone, with a forward facing camera and the Skype or Zoom apps installed, to connect with their teacher during the class periods.
Private lessons are available. Courses start at the beginning of each month.
